So June was an odd month; I was laid off from work in early June (although to late to take advantage of the COBRA Subsidy) and worked through the end of the month knowing my fate was approaching. The fate of being home 100% with Emil. It has been pretty great and now that, currently, it has almost been a month we are in a steady routine: Apply for jobs in the morning and during his naps and gallivant around Brooklyn either running errands or attending as many free activities and playgrounds as possible.
To recap June:
- - He has been pretty much teething for a month now. They seem to bother him off and on and he must be working on 6 of them at the same time because he has the same number of teeth (6) as he did when he was 9 months old.
- - After many requests to get Emil to put his empty yogurt container that we keep around for his play on top of his head, he finally does it on his own volition.
- - Emil discovered the joys of sprinklers and water parks at the playground. His first experience was down in Battery Park City where he ran around like a crazy-eyed banshee and ignored all children that attempted to play with him. We usually go to the playground daily.
- - It was hot, really hot. We spent a lot of time in the found baby pool, either with Emil in it or our feet. Luckily, we sprung for a second air conditioning unit because it was getting to where the entire family was crabby.
- - I finally broke out one of his toys from his birthday, since he loves dogs so much and yaps when we pass them. Thanks James & Soo!
- - While still not talking or communicative, he is looking even more like a toddler. At his 15-month appointment the doctor mainly commented on his curiosity. He weighed 22 pounds and was 32 inches long.
